Bio
NAJ Taylor is a doctoral researcher in the School of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Queensland. He also blogs for Al Jazeera.
Taylor writes about the relationship between ethics and violence in world politics, particularly questions relating to: the nature of contemporary warfare; environmental and humanitarian consequences of war; armaments manufacturers’ limits of responsibility; war in the aesthetic arts and pop culture; and the future of weapons technology.
Current projects include a three-year study of the theory and practice of harm in modern warfare, and a collaborative project exploring the role of civilisational dialogue in support of a Middle East free of biological, nuclear and chemical weapons (with Joseph A. Camilleri, Michael Hamel-Green and Marianne Hanson). He is also working on two books: a photographic essay on toxic and explosive remnants of war (with artist Louis Porter), and a novel of counterfactual history.
He holds both a Bachelor of Economics in Economic History and Master of International Studies with honours from the University of Sydney.
